Two Teams Owned by Valentino Rossi Down in Moto2

Thursday (23/9/2021), the FIM released the teams that will compete in Moto2 and Moto3 for the 2022 racing season.

In the list released by the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), Moto2 and Moto3 for next year's racing season will consist of 15 teams and 30 riders, respectively. That means one Moto2 and Moto3 team will be strengthened by two regular riders.

Applications for teams who intend to participate in Moto2 and Moto3 for the 2022 racing season have closed on August 26, 2021.

These teams are given until September 16, 2021, to confirm their participation while submitting details of the drivers who have been contracted plus submitting their financial obligations.

Regarding the selection of the teams in Moto2 and Moto3, the FIM has a Selection Committee which is responsible for checking the completeness and eligibility of the teams that will participate. This was done on the sidelines of the San Marino GP, last weekend.

One of the highlights of the FIM announcement regarding the racing teams under MotoGP is the appearance of Valentino Rossi's two squads in Moto2, Aramco VR46 Team and Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team.

This year, in Moto2 there is only Sky Racing Team VR46 with drivers Celestino Vietti and Marco Bezzecchi. The VR46 Master Camp Team once fielded Keminth Kubo in the seventh round, the Catalunya GP, at the Barcelona Circuit, Spain.

Kubo is a driver who graduated from the VR46 Master Camp class of July 2018. The Thai racer is currently participating in CEV Moto2 with the VR46 Master Camp Team.
For the time being, Kubo is ranked ninth in the standings or two levels below Dimas Ekky Pratama, the only Indonesian racer to enter CEV Moto2.

The appearance of the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team is interesting. The reason is, a number of Indonesian racers have participated in a training program for young drivers to participate in world-class racing championships.

For example, the current World Supersport (WSSP) racer Galang Hendra Pratama (class of 2016 with Imanuel Putra Pratna), Anggi Setiawan (May 2017), and Muhammad Faerozi Toreqottullah (September 2018).

The certainty that the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team will compete in the 2022 Moto2 World Championship has given rise to hope for Indonesian racers to compete in the one brand engine racing event next season. Most likely, of course, Galang Hendra.
The racer from Yogyakarta has been driving the Yamaha YZF R6 for the last two seasons at WSSP. Previously, he had three seasons down the WSSP300.

However, there are still many factors that will affect whether or not Galang Hendra can get down in Moto2. One of them is financial support.

Currently, a number of Moto2 teams already have drivers for the 2022 season although only a few complete their squads. For example, Aramco VR46 Team, which just has Celestino Vietti. Albert Arenas who strengthened the GasGas Aspar Team Moto2 to Jorge Navarro and Aron Canet who strengthened the Flexbox HP40.

In the Moto3 class, Gresini Racing will no longer exist. Instead, Team MTA will field with drivers Ivan Ortola and possibly Stefano Nepa.

Two strong teams in Moto3 this season, Red Bull KTM Ajo and Red Bull KTM Tech3, have also not determined the composition of the drivers.
