Cousin of Maverick Vinales "Dean Berta Vinales" Dies of Accident in Racing

Breaking News, The cousin of MotoGP racer Maverick Vinales, Dean Berta Vinales, has died after being seriously injured in a crash during Race 1 of the World Supersport 300 Championship (WorldSSP300). The race was held at the Jerez Circuit, Spain, on Saturday night (25/9/2021).

Misfortune befell Dean in the middle of the race. He crashed at the second corner on lap 11 at the Jerez Circuit.


The incident involved not only Dean, but several other drivers as well. Some of them are Alejandro Carrion, Daniel Mogeda, Harry Khouri, and Yeray Ruiz.

After the great collision, the red flag was raised and the race was suspended. In an official statement on the WorldSBK website on Saturday (25/9/2021), Dean was immediately taken to the hospital due to serious injuries.

The injury to Maverick Vinales' cousin is the most serious of the four drivers. Dean suffered severe injuries to his head and chest.

"After a serious incident during WorldSSP300 Race 1, Dean Berta Vinales sadly passed away from injuries," wrote WorldSBK on its official website, Saturday (25/9/2021).

“The driver suffered serious injuries to the head and chest. The medical vehicle immediately arrived on the scene and the driver was treated on the track, in the ambulance and at the Circuit Medical Center."

"Despite the best efforts of the circuit medical staff, the Medical Center has announced that Berta Vinales has died from his injuries," the statement said.

Dean's departure certainly leaves a deep sorrow for the world of racing sports. The reason is, Dean is currently in good form in his last few races at the Supersport 300 World Championship.

Dean showed great potential during the Motul Spanish Round, leading the group and starting from his best Superpole result in tenth. Meanwhile, the impact of the incident was the cancellation of Race 1 WSBK and WSSP which was planned to be held today (Saturday, 25/9/2021).

Dean's departure also extends the number of drivers who have died from racing. On the MotoGP stage, the famous racer, Marco Simoncelli, also died in the race at the Sepang Circuit, Malaysia, in 2011.
